Vietnam attends int’l Red Cross conference

The 31 st International Conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC) took place from Nov. 28 – Dec. 1 in Geneva , Switzerland with the participation of almost 2,000 delegates from 194 governments and the societies of Red Cross and Red Crescent across the world.

The Vietnamese delegation led by Ambassador Vu Dung, Head of theVietnamese Permanent Mission to the United Nations (UN), and the VietnamRed Cross (VNRC) delegation led by its Chairman Tran Ngoc Tang attendedthe conference.

Themed, “Our world, your actions –joint efforts for a humanitarian cause”, this year’s conference focusedon four areas – strengthening protection for victims of armedconflicts; strengthening disaster laws; strengthening local humanitarianaction, and addressing barriers to community –based health care.

Convened every four years, this is the largest and most importantconference of the Red Cross movement, attended by state representativesand all the divisions of the International Red Cross and Red CrescentMovement and national Red Cross societies./.
