Vietnam attends Francophonie Culture Week in Pakistan

The Vietnamese Embassy has joined representative agencies from 15 other countries to showcase traditional culture at the 2015 Francophonie Week in Pakistan’s capital city, Islamabad.
The Vietnamese Embassy has joined representative agencies from 15 othercountries to showcase traditional culture at the 2015 Francophonie Weekin Pakistan’s capital city, Islamabad.

Theparticipating countries, all members of the International Organisationof La Francophonie, include Austria, Belgium, France, Egypt, Morocco,Lebanon, and Canada.

Among items the Vietnameseembassy brought to the event are delicate handicrafts and paintings,including a map of Vietnam made of rice grains, replicas of an ancientbronze drum and a “xich lo” (cyclo), and some typical examples ofVietnamese cuisine.

Meanwhile, a documentary will be screened exploring lives in the country’s traditional craft villages.

Through activities held over the course of the festival, which openedon March 16 and will run until March 21, the embassy hopes to promotethe Vietnamese identity and highlight the country’s achievements innational development over the past few decades.

The event is being held at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts.-VNA
