Vietnam attends Confederation of ASEAN Journalists’ General Assembly
A delegation of the Vietnam Journalists Association (VJA) led by its President Thuan Huu attended the 19th General Assembly of the Confederation of ASEAN Journalists (CAJ) which took place in Bangkok, Thailand from January 24-28.

Bangkok (VNA) – A delegationof the Vietnam Journalists Association (VJA) led by its President Thuan Huuattended the 19th GeneralAssembly of the Confederation of ASEAN Journalists (CAJ) which took place inBangkok, Thailand from January 24-28.
In his opening remarks, Thuan Huu, CAJ President, reviewed milestones in theover 42-year history of the CAJ and applauded achievements recorded by the CAJand press associations, confederations and clubs of its member countries overthe past time.
The VJA undertook the CAJ Chairmanship in 2015when the ASEAN Community was established, he said, adding that the VJA has joinedhands with its counterparts in the CAJ to build a dynamic and unitedconfederation.
Through effective cooperation programmes, the CAJ has brought aboutopportunities to its members to share their viewpoints on issues of sharedconcern, both bilaterally and multilaterally, helping them improve professionalknowledge and skills, he said.
The VJA will continue its close coordination with the Confederation of ThaiJournalists (CTJ) which will assumes the CAJ Chair during 2018-2020 in order toturn the CAJ into an organisation with regional influences, contributing tobuilding an ASEAN Community of peace, solidarity, stability, prosperity, mutualunderstanding and trust.
During the five-day event, the General Assembly assessed the implementation ofCAJ programmes during 2015-20417, supplemented and amended CAJ regulations and issuedthe Bangkok Declaration, affirmingthe determination to improve the prestige of regional journalists’organisations.
On this occasion, the Club of Cambodian Journalists became theeighth member of the CAJ.
