Vietnam attends ceremony marking 45th anniversary of Sandinista Revolution in Nicaragua

Hanoi (VNA)♋ – A delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) led by Nguyen Minh Tam, deputy head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations attended the celebrations marking the 45th anniversary of the victory of the Sandinista Revolution (July 19, 1979 - 2024) held in Managua, Nicaragua, on July 19.

Within the working trip to attend the celebrations, the Vietnamese delegation had working session with General Secretary of the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN) and President of Nicaragua Daniel Ortega, Vice President Rosario Murillo, President of the National Assembly Gustavo Porras, Minister of Foreign Affairs Denis Ronaldo and other ministries in charge of economy, investment and trade. The Nicaraguan leaders highly appreciated the significance of the Vietnamese delegation’s visit, considering it a great encouragement for the FSLN, the Nicaraguan revolution and a vivid demonstration of the traditional solidarity, friendship and cooperation between the two Parties and two countries.
On this occasion, the President and leaders of Nicaragua extended their deepest condolences to the Party, State and people of Vietnam over the recent passing of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, saying this is a huge loss not only for Vietnam but also for revolutionary and progressive friends in the world. They highly valued the Party General Secretary's theoretical and practical contributions to the Vietnamese people's national building and development. Tam, for his part, congratulated Nicaragua on the important achievements that the FSLN and the people of Nicaragua have achieved in national construction and development. He expressed his belief that under the leadership of the FSLN led by President Ortega and the strong support of the people, Nicaragua will overcome all difficulties and challenges, continue to develop, and enhance its role and position in the international arena, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
At their meetings, the two sides informed each other about the development achievements of each Party and each country in recent times, and discussed some directions to promote cooperative relations between the two Parties and countries in the coming time and issues of mutual concern. More than 700 international delegates from political parties and socio-political organisations of 17 countries around the world attended the ceremony, demonstrating their support and solidarity with the Nicaraguan Revolution.
