Vietnam Airlines to move to Cam Ranh airport’s new terminal in July

The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines said on June 29 that it will operate international flights to and from Cam Ranh airport in the central province of Khanh Hoa at the new terminal T2 from this July.

Hanoi (VNA) – The national flag carrier VietnamAirlines said on June 29 that it will operate international flights to and fromCam Ranh airport in the central province of Khanh Hoa at the new terminal T2from this July.

The first international flight landed at the new terminal 5:5amon June 29, which was flight VN719 from China’s Chengdu city.

The three-storey terminal sits on a site of over 50,000 sq.mand is capable of serving 8 million passengers each year by 2030. It isdesigned to shape like a swallow’s nest – a specialty and symbol of Khanh Hoa.

Vietnam Airlines will run eight counters at T2, with twoserving business-class and Sky Priority passengers. The 210 sq.m businesslounge area is located on the second floor, serving Golden Lotus members andbusiness-class passengers.

Cam Ranh airport is the main aviation gate to the popularsea resort city of Nha Trang. Last year, tourist arrivals in the city reached5.5 million.

According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, Khanh Hoa welcomedover 2.44 million tourists in January-May, up 20.8 percent year-on-year,including 1.17 million foreigners, marking a rise of roughly 50 percent.

Last year, Vietnam Airlines transported more than 730,000foreign tourists to Khanh Hoa, up nearly 35 percent annually. The figurereached 500,000 in the first half of this year.

Most recently, the airline launched a direct route between CamRanh and the Republic of Korea’s Seoul in late March, giving more travellingchoices for passengers.-VNA
