Buenos Aires (VNA) – Representativesfrom ASEAN member states’ embassies in Argentina hailed Vietnamese AmbassadorNguyen Dinh Thao, as rotating chair of ASEAN in the country last year, for hisefforts to foster intra-bloc links as well as relations between the group andArgentina.
During a session held in Buenos Aires onMarch 27 to review activities in 2016, Ambassadors of ASEAN member nations inArgentina pledged to further promote cooperation with the host country.
As the chairman of the bloc in Argentina in 2016, Ambassador Thao arranged manyactivities to promote ASEAN countries’ role and economic, trade and tourism potentialin Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay.
The Vietnamese Embassy also hosted many cultural and sport exchange events, especiallya ceremony marking the 50th founding anniversary of ASEAN.
On the occasion, Thao handed over the ASEAN Chairmanship in Argentina to Thai AmbassadorNarisroj Fuangrabil.
Apart from Vietnam, other ASEAN membernations having embassies in Argentina include Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand andthe Philippines.-VNA
