Vietnam active at conference of Asian Political Parties in Iran

Hanoi(VNA) – The Communist Party of Vietnam(CPV) sent a delegation led by Vice Chairman of the CPV Central Committee’sCommission for External Relations Nguyen Manh Cuong to the 29th StandingCommittee Meeting of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties(ICAPP) in Tehran, Iran from February 1-4.
The Vietnamese delegation attended and presented severalpapers at various sessions of the meeting, which reviewed activities of ICAPPin 2017 and discussed orientations for 2018.
Participants at the meeting underscored the important role ofpolitical parties in social development and progress in their countries, inpreventing the spread of extremism and terrorism via maintaining equality, andin erasing social gaps and connecting generations.
On the occasion, the ICAPP in collaboration with the Islamic Coalition Party(Montalefeh) of Iran organised a workshop on the Silk Road, drawingparticipation of nearly 200 delegates representing 38 political parties of 24nations.
The delegates lauded economic connecting initiatives,including resuming the ancient Silk Road, thus boosting trade in Asia and betweenAsia and Europe.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the Vietnamese delegation heldmany discussions with participating parties on how to strengthening ties andrealising agreements reached between the CPV and those parties.-VNA
A delegation from the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), led by Hoang Binh Quan, head of its Central Committee’s External Affairs Commission, participated in the 8th plenum of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) in Sri Lanka from September 18-21.
A Vietnamese delegation, led deputy head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for External Affairs Nguyen Tuan Phong, attended a seminar of the International Conference of Asian Political Party (ICAPP) in Vladivostok, Russia, between May 21-23.
A Vietnamese Party delegation participated in the conference on the ICAPP's Silk Road and the 25th meeting of the ICAPP Standing Committee, held in Beijing, China from October 14 to 16.

Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien welcomed the proposals put forward by the US side and reiterated Vietnam’s request for consideration of key areas of interest, including reciprocal tariff policies and access for Vietnamese key export products to the US market.

During the negotiations, the US highly evaluated Vietnam’s goodwill and efforts, affirmed its appreciation for the bilateral relationship, acknowledged Vietnam’s proposals and concerns, and considered these an important basis for continuing discussions and moving towards a final agreement.
The Chairman stressed the need for stricter fiscal discipline, faster digital transformation, and more efficient management of State budget revenues and expenditures.
