VietinBank builds 150 charity houses in Quang Ngai
The Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (VietinBank) on March 15 unveiled its joint project with the central Quang Ngai People’s Committee on building 150 charity houses for local needy residents.

Accordingly, the bank will inject 7.5 billion VND (324,101USD) into the project, and this means each selected household in the centralprovince will receive 50 million VND (2,160 USD).
The majority of the recipients are located in the districtsof Ba To, Minh Long, Son Ha, Son Tay, Tay Tra, and Tra Bong.
Notably, Na Ta Kot resettlement area in Tra Bong’s Tra Lamcommune will get the largest support from the sum to distribute among 45 localfamilies, who are currently living in makeshift houses.
Nguyen Cao Phuc, head of the provincial chapter of theVietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, said it is a meaningful programmeto help the poor households secure permanent houses.
He asked local authorities to regularly monitor theconstruction and mobilise residents’ contribution of working days to buildingthese houses.-VNA
As many as 130 charity houses, each worth at least 32 million VND (1,300 USD), were handed over to poor and ethnic minority households in Truong Long commune, the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho.
More than a dozen social works totalled 40.1 billion VND (1.79 million USD) funded by the Vietnam Industrial Bank (VietinBank) were handed over to the Mekong Delta province of Hau Giang.
The Ho Chi Minh City Sponsoring Association for Poor Patients (SAPP) has raised over 1 trillion VND (46.46 million USD) from various community sources to help the poor over the past 25 years.
The programmes have brought about positive changes to rural infrastructure, comprehensively improved the material and spiritual lives of farmers, and contributed to Vietnam's economic restructuring, said PM Pham Minh Chinh.

The programme on sustainable poverty reduction has achieved its annual targets for reducing the poverty rate as assigned by the National Assembly and the Government. It has fulfilled five specific objectives and five five-year goals, and met nine out of 12 indicators related to addressing basic social service shortages.
