Vice President visits centre for disabled children in Quang Ngai

Quang Ngai (VNA) – Vice President Dang Thi NgocThinh visited Vo Hong Son care centre for disabled children in the centralprovince of Quang Ngai on August 28.

On the occasion, she donated 50 million VND (2,150 USD) tothe centre and 80 million VND to Pho Cuong kindergarten in Duc Pho district.

Thinh praised efforts made by the centre’s staff and askedthe provincial authorities to assist the centre in caring for disabled anddisadvantaged children.

Initially established based on the support from latejournalist Vo Hong Son’s family, the centre has been sustaining its operationswith assistance from the community. In five years of working, it annually looksafter between 100 and 120 disabled children from needy families. In the2019-2020 school year, it is caring and providing education and vocationaltraining for 146 children.

Director of the centre Nguyen Thi Thu Ha said children inthe centre are aged between 6 and 15 years old, about half of them are hearingimpaired.-VNA
