VFFCC President meets RMIT leader in Australia visit

Sydney(VNA) – President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee (VFFCC)Tran Thanh Man met with senior executives of the Royal Melbourne Institute ofTechnology (RMIT) in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia on December 7.
Man, accompanied byVietnamese Ambassador to Australia Ngo Huong Nam at the meeting, is making atour of Australia from December 6-10.
At the event,Vice-Chancellor and President of RMIT Martin Bean spoke highly of theeducational cooperation between Vietnam and Australia in recent years inaccordance with the two countries’ agreements, including the agreement ineducation and training for the 2013-2018 period, the Australia-Vietnam HumanResources Development Programme from 2016-2020, and the Australia AwardsScholarships.
The VFFCC President,for his part, was delighted at RMIT’s launch of new programmes – bachelor’sdegrees in Design Studies, Tourism and Hospitality Management, and Languages – inVietnam this year. He said he looks forward to the university introducing aGraduate Certificate in Business Startups in the future.
He hoped that RMITwill provide short-term courses in English language and administrativemanagement for staff at the VFFCC and support the committee’s new centre fortraining and science studies which will be operational by the end of 2018.
Later the same day,Man visited a high-tech farm of fruits and vegetables, namely Lotus, on theoutskirts of Melbourne run by Thai Son, a Vietnamese expat.

A delegation from the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF), led by President of its Central Committee Tran Thanh Man, is making a working visit to New Zealand from December 3 – 5.
President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Tran Thanh Man visited Speaker of the Parliament of New Zealand Trevor Mallard in the country’s capital Wellington on December 5.
According to the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society (VRC), this year’s campaign provided long-term aid for 3,785 individuals and organisations. Support included houses, clean water systems, school meal facilities, books, and livelihood assistance, with a total value of more than 118 billion VND.
The programmes have brought about positive changes to rural infrastructure, comprehensively improved the material and spiritual lives of farmers, and contributed to Vietnam's economic restructuring, said PM Pham Minh Chinh.
The festival highlighted the contributions and robust development of Vietnam's revolutionary press over the past century while promoting press products and showcasing the creativity of Vietnamese journalists.
The programme on sustainable poverty reduction has achieved its annual targets for reducing the poverty rate as assigned by the National Assembly and the Government. It has fulfilled five specific objectives and five five-year goals, and met nine out of 12 indicators related to addressing basic social service shortages.
