Venezuela seminar talks Vietnam’s reform, path to socialism
Vietnam’s reform and its path towards socialism was spotlighted at a seminar held on July 13 at the National Experimental University of the Armed Forces (UNEFA) of Venezuela by the Vietnamese Embassy.

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam’s reform and its pathtowards socialism was spotlighted at a seminar held on July 13 at the National Experimental University of the Armed Forces (UNEFA) of Venezuela by the Vietnamese Embassy.
Speaking at the event, Ambassador Le VietDuyen emphasised difficulties during Vietnam’s 35-year "Doi moi" (Reform) andsocialism building as the country emerged from a backward, agriculture-driveneconomy, with severe war consequences.
Vietnam has learnt from international experience tobuild a socialist-oriented market economy, he said, stressing that the country isnow able to ensure food security and becomes a world leading exporter of riceand other agricultural products.
Notably, industry and services account for up to 85% of the national gross domestic product (GDP), he continued.
Vietnam is now the fourth biggest economy in theAssociation of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the 40th worldwide. It is expected to rank among the 20 largest economies by 2035.
The ambassador affirmed Vietnam’s foreign policy ofindependence, self-reliance, multlateralisation and diversification ofrelations, and actively and proactively integrating into the world.
Duyen expressed his hope that Venezuelan people willsoon overcome all difficulties and challenges, and build a country of peace,development, happiness and prosperity.
The diplomat said he believed that theVietnam-Venezuela friendship and comprehensive cooperation will grow further,contributing to peace, stability and development in the region and the world atlarge.
In his remarks, UNEFA Rector Sen. Lt. Gen. Pascualino Angiolillonoted his admiration for Vietnam’s path towards socialism, as well as itsreform achievements.
UNEFA will study Vietnam’s shared lessons to includethem in the curricular of its “Vietnamese nation and culture in Ho Chi Minhera” faculty, he said./.
“We need sustainable development in harmony with nature to secure a clean living environment for present and future generations, instead of unlimited exploitation and possession of resources, unrestrained consumption and destruction of the environment.” This is one of the five “needs” defined by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in his article titled “Some theoretical and practical issues on socialism and the path towards socialism in Vietnam.”
Coordinating economic and social policies and working to ensure that economic growth is accompanied by social progress and equality in every stage, every policy, and throughout the development is a principled requirement to guarantee the country’s healthy and sustainable development.
President Nguyen Xuan Phuc chaired a meeting of the steering committee for building a scheme to review the 10-year implementation of the Party's resolution on the national defence strategy in the new situation, in Hanoi on April 28.

During the negotiations, the US highly evaluated Vietnam’s goodwill and efforts, affirmed its appreciation for the bilateral relationship, acknowledged Vietnam’s proposals and concerns, and considered these an important basis for continuing discussions and moving towards a final agreement.
The Chairman stressed the need for stricter fiscal discipline, faster digital transformation, and more efficient management of State budget revenues and expenditures.
The ministry has instructed Vietnamese representative agencies in Israel, Iran, as well as those in neighbouring countries, to closely monitor the situation and request local authorities to ensure absolute safety for Vietnamese citizens living, studying, and working in high-risk areas.
