VATM signs technical cooperation deal with US corporation
The Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) on February 2 inked a contract with the US-based Mitre Corporation for technical assistance for an Air Traffic Flow Management (ATFM) implementation master plan in Vietnam.

In the context of increased domestic andregional aviation activity, VATM has been implementing strategic solutions toenhance the air navigation capacity. It also requires a master plan on ATFM forproviding an integrated vision and a systematic roadmap for implementing ATFMoperations in Vietnam. The project, funded by the US Trade andDevelopment Agency (USTDA), will be launched in 16 months from the signingdate. It will develop an ATFM vision anddevise an implementation plan by 2025 and beyond, as well as build the roadmapfor participation in the “Concept of Operations for a distributed multi-nodalATFM” project in the Asia – Pacific region, and the roadmap for internationalintegration of Vietnam in the field of ATFM. It will also devise ATFM training plansand guidelines for ATFM human resources development in line with the ATFMimplementation roadmap, and provide a representative ATFM system architecture,with technical and operational requirements as a basis for future investment inATFM equipment and tools. Afterthe project concludes, VATM will have an established vision and strategy forachieving future ATFM operations, be prepared to implement ATFM operations andtrain their workforce in the field. It will have a plan to become a regionalleader in ATFM operations through participation in the Asia Pacific distributedmulti-nodal ATFM operations. Foundedin 1958, the Mitre Corporation is a non-profit organisation which specialisesin ATFM research and development. It has participated in the building of ATFMmaster plan in the US, India, Indonesia, the Republic of Korea, Singapore andTaiwan (China). In September2017, VATM and the USTDA also reached a sponsorship deal on the technical assistancefor ATFM implementation master plan in Vietnam.-VNA
