US legislative assistants visit HCM City

HCM City (VNA) – A delegation of US legislativeassistants had a meeting with National Assembly (NA) deputies of Ho Chi MinhCity on April 18, as part of their working trip to Vietnam.

Welcoming the guests, deputy head of the NA deputies’delegation of the city Phan Nguyen Nhu Khue expressed his delight at thegrowing Vietnam-US comprehensive partnership in various fields. He noted thetwo countries have organised many mutual visits between their leaders andrepresentatives of businesses and legislative bodies to discuss ways to promotebilateral ties.

Vietnam always considers the US an importantpartner, especially in trade and investment, and hopes to continue promotingthe comprehensive partnership on the basis of respect for each other’sindependence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and political regime, for thesake of both countries and for peace, stability, cooperation and development inthe region and the world, Khue noted.

The legislator added as an economic, cultural,scientific and technological hub of Vietnam, HCM City has carried outcooperation activities with US partners. It has welcomed many delegations fromthe US and also been a venue for many key joint programmes and projects ininvestment and education.

The visit by the US legislative assistants notonly reflects their country’s attention to the city but will also help fostercollaboration between the two countries’ legislative bodies and the bilateralcomprehensive partnership, he said.

On behalf of the US delegation, Terra Lynn Sabag– Deputy Chief of Staff for Congressman Rick Larsen – said theirworking trip to Vietnam, including HCM City, aims to help further develop thecountries’ cooperation.

The delegation includes assistants of many UScongressmen, but all of them share the view on the importance of reinforcingUS-Vietnam relations in all aspects, including between the legislatures, shenoted.

She expressed her hope that there will be moredelegation exchanges between the two sides’ legislative bodies in the comingtime so as to help promote mutual understanding and cooperation opportunities.

During their stay in HCM City, the US delegationwill visit the American Chamber of Commerce, the Intel company, the FulbrightUniversity Vietnam, and the historical relic site of Cu Chi Tunnels.-VNA
