The US Department of Commerce (DOC) has just published a paper announcing the initiation of a sunset review of the anti-dumping measures applicable to utility scale wind towers imported from Vietnam.

The US Department of Commerce (DOC) has justpublished a paper announcing the initiation of a sunset review of theanti-dumping measures applicable to utility scale wind towers imported fromVietnam.

The DOC also noted that the relevant parties interested in participating in thereview should submit a letter of inquiry, pursuant to Section 19 CFR 351.103(d) within 10 days of the date of publication of the investigation.

Dumping occurs when a foreign company sells a product in the US at lower thanthe fair value of the product, said the DOC.

On January 18, 2012, the DOC initiated an anti-dumping investigation into utilityscale wind towers imported from a number of countries, including Vietnam.

The DOC preliminarily determined that Vietnamese producers/exporters soldutility scale wind towers in the US at dumping margins of 52.67 percent to59.91 percent.

In the investigation, mandatory respondent, CS Wind Corporation and CS WindVietnam Co. Ltd. (collectively, “CS Wind Group”) received a preliminary dumpingmargin of 52.67 percent. All other Vietnamese producers/exporters received apreliminary dumping margin of 59.91 percent.

The petitioner for these investigations is the Wind Tower Trade Coalition. TheWind Tower Trade Coalition includes the following member companies: BroadwindTowers, Inc. (Manitowoc, WI); DMI Industries (Fargo, ND); Katana Summit LLC(Columbus, NE); and Trinity Structural Towers, Inc. (Dallas, TX).

The DOC conducts an administrative assessment to review and adjust the appliedtax every year.-VNA
