US Congress backs stronger relations with Vietnam

Representatives of the US Foreign Affairs Congressional Staff Association (FACSA) have declared that the US Congress will support the relations with Vietnam to grow further.
Representatives of the US Foreign Affairs Congressional StaffAssociation (FACSA) have declared that the US Congress will support therelations with Vietnam to grow further.

More than50 members of the FACSA, the advisors and key assistants to USsenators, attended a meeting hosted by Vietnamese Ambassador to the USPham Quang Vinh in Washington D.C.

Addressing theevent, the Vietnamese diplomat noted that this year marks 20 years ofthe Vietnam-US diplomatic ties and appreciated the US congress’simportant role in promoting the ties.

He confirmedthat the Embassy will work closely with the FACSA to increase exchangesand promote mutual understanding of issues of shared concerns.

FACSA representatives said the US Congress will be more constructivein cooperative fields with Vietnam, ranging from politics, defence,trade, science to humanitarian aid and war consequence settlement.

They lauded the first joint activity launched by the Vietnam Embassyas a meaningful celebration of the two countries’ 20-year diplomaticties.-VNA
