Hanoi (VNA) - Director General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) Audrey Azoulay attended the new school year opening ceremony at the Hanoi-based Ngo Si Lien Secondary School on September 5.
Ngo Si Lien is among the schools selected for the "education for sustainable development" project included in the UNESCO Associated Schools Network.
In her remarks, Azoulay said all of the 23 Vietnamese educational institutions joining the network have committed to following UNESCO’s educational development path.
Lauding Ngo Si Lien for its climate change response, she called for joint efforts from teachers, students and their families in this regard.
The over-100-year-old school has 53 classes with over 120 officials and teachers, and some 2,000 students.

Vietnam has made significant efforts to implement UNESCO Convention for the protection of the world cultural and natural heritage since its ratification of the treaty on October 19, 1987.
A ceremony was held in the northern province of Tuyen Quang on September 3 night to receive a UNESCO certificate accrediting Practices of Then by Tay, Nung and Thai ethnic minority groups in Vietnam as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

In recent decades, Vietnam’s mainstream media has become a reliable and persuasive channel for showcasing the nation’s development policies and achievements, especially in economic matters, according to a senior assistant editor at the Times of India.
A hub for sharing best practices, the event aims to forge solutions for financial sustainability, public media contracts, audience engagement, content innovation, and newsroom restructuring. It is also a moment for Vietnam’s media to accelerate its progress and figure out what the “revolutionary press” means in a new era.
From “Thanh nien”, Vietnam’s first revolutionary newspaper founded by Nguyen Ai Quoc (later President Ho Chi Minh) on June 21, 1925, the revolutionary press has remained devoted to its sacred missions -accompanying the nation, serving the Fatherland, and working for the people.
