Paris (VNA) – UNESCODirector-General Irina Bokova lauded strong cooperation with Vietnam whilereceiving credentials from Tran Thi Hoang Mai, the first female head of the VietnamPermanent Delegation to UNESCO, in Paris on September 28.

Bokova also thanked the VietnameseGovernment for hosting her visit last August.

For her part, the Vietnamese diplomatstressed UNESCO’s multi-sector projects has contributed to sustainable growthin Vietnam.

Relations between the two sides arefruitful, particularly in culture, Mai added, sharing her wish for thecooperation to expand to tap the potential in the fields of science, educationand information.

She said Vietnam has made practicalcontributions to the UNESCO by actively engaging in the organisation’s WorldHeritage Committee and Executive Board, and by sending experts to work for the UNESCO.

Mai vowed to do her best to cement thefriendship and partnership between Vietnam and the UNESCO and to boostVietnam’s involvement in the organisation’s operation during her tenure.-VNA
