Hanoi (VNA) – The United Nations on December 24raised 107.2 million USD in a campaign to support survivors of super typhoonRai that hit the Philippines last week.
The sum will be used to support 530,000 people whoare lacking food, clean water and toilets, and temporary tents in the worst-hitareas.
Super typhoon Rai smashed into the Philippines onDecember 16, packing winds of 195 kilometres per hour, becoming one of thestrongest storms hitting the Southeast Asian nation in recent years.
