Two more cities complete new-style rural area building 2017
Lang Son city in northern Lang Son province, and Sa Dec city in southern Dong Thap province have been recognised for completing their 2017 new-style rural area building tasks.
Hanoi(VNA) – Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue, Head of the Steering Committeefor the national target programme on new-style rural area building has recognised that Lang Son city in northern LangSon province, and Sa Dec city in southern Dong Thap province have completedtheir 2017 new-style rural area building tasks. Lang Son city hadall three communes, namely Mai Pha, Hoang Dong, Quang Lac recognised by theprovincial People’s Committee as new-style rural areas in 2014, 2015, and 2016,respectively. The localitieshave built concrete roads in all communal and 88.67 percent of village roadnetworks. All locals have access to a constant and safe electricity supply. Theannual income per capita reached 27 million VND (1,188 USD). The poorhousehold rate in the three communes fell to one percent. According to the reportfrom Sa Dec city’s Steering Committee, all three communes in the city havecompleted the new-style rural area building tasks. The annual incomeper capita reached 32.2 million VND (1,400 USD), 99.8 percent of locals haveaccess to safe electricity and all of them have access to hygienic water. All schools in thethree communes meet national standards. The poor household rate is 4.5 percent.91.66 percent of local labourers have regular work.-VNA
Twelve more communes in central Nghe An province have been qualified as new rural areas so far this year, bringing the total communes of their kind to 117.
The central province of Quang Nam strives to have 9-10 new-style rural communes this year, raising the rate of communes achieving the status to 30-35 percent.
The Central Highlands province of Dak Lak has mobilised more than 37.6 trillion VND (1.69 billion USD) to improve living standards for people in rural areas.
One district and 123 communes in the Central Highlands region have fulfilled all criteria of the National Target Programme on New-style Rural Area Building, according to the Steering Committee for Central Highlands Region.
The Mekong Delta city of Can Tho aims to complete building new-style rural areas by 2020, according to Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Anh Thuy.
The programmes have brought about positive changes to rural infrastructure, comprehensively improved the material and spiritual lives of farmers, and contributed to Vietnam's economic restructuring, said PM Pham Minh Chinh.
