Turkish President thanks Vietnam for earthquake rescue aid

Hatay (VNA) – President of Turkey TayyipErdogan has thanked Vietnamese forces for their timely support and tirelessefforts in search and rescue operations following the huge earthquake onFebruary 6.
The host leader expressed his thanks to domestic andinternational search and rescue teams, including one from the VietnameseMinistry of National Defence, during his February 20 field trip to Antakya,the capital of Hatay province, one of the localities hardest hit by the naturaldisaster.
The president met head of the team, Maj. Gen. PhamVan Ty, Deputy Chief of the Office of the National Committee for Incident andDisaster Response, Search and Rescue and Deputy Director of the Vietnam PeopleArmy (VPA)'s Department of Search and Rescue.
Erdogan noted his gratitude to foreign countries fortheir emergency aid and dispatch of search and rescue forces to Turkey,stressing that the earthquake has revealed the importance of internationalsolidarity and Turkey will forever keep in mind the friendship.

During that process, they coordinated with theBahraini and Mexican teams to find out three sites with 10 corpses, and assistedthree families to move household goods out of the rubble.
The 76-strong rescue teams of the VPA, along with 35tonnes of cargo, departed for Turkey on February 12 night to assist the countryin recovery efforts following the devastating earthquake.
Meanwhile, the 24-member team of the Ministry ofPublic Security engaged in search and rescue efforts in the Turkishsoutheastern city of Adiyaman after they arrived at Istanbul InternationalAirport on February 10.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on February 14 wroteto the Presidents of Turkey and Syria offering aid of 100,000 USD each to theircountries./.
