Trinh Xuan Thanh suggested being expelled from Party

Hanoi (VNA)🍌 – The Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission has suggested the Party’s Secretariat expel Trinh Xuan Thanh, a member of the Hau Giang provincial Party Committee, from the Party.
The suggestion was made at the sixth meeting of the commission in Hanoi from September 6-8.
A report by the commission in its fourth and fifth meetings revealed that Thanh, as Chairman of PetroVietnam Construction Corporation (PVC) from 2007-2013, had been negligent and was lax in the management over the corporation’s operation, resulting in many violations of the law on business management and a loss of more than 3.2 trillion VND (142 million USD).
Thanh, who is also Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of the Mekong Delta province of Hau Giang from 2011-2016, was found abusing of an official plate on his luxury Lexus car.
According to the commission, Thanh’s violations are serious as they have sparked public concern and damaged the prestige of the Party, State and the official himself.
He was dishonest and showed no sense of repentance during the self-criticism process, it said.
During the working session, the commission also adopted disciplinary measures against several other officials, gave feedback on the settlement of petitions and looked into a handful of inspection reports.-VNA
