Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnamese embassies in Japan,Indonesia and Australia held tribute-paying ceremonies and opened funeral booksfor former President General Le Duc Anh on May 3.
In Tokyo, Chairman of the Japan’s International FriendshipExchange Council (FEC) Ken Matsuzawa, former Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam andFEC Senior Managing Director Hiroyuki Yushita came to the embassy to express theirprofound condolences over the passing of the former President.
In the funeral book, Lao Ambassador to Japan Viroth Sundarawrote that the leader’s death is a great loss to the Vietnamese government andVietnamese people at home and abroad.
Representatives from Myanmar and India in Japan also paidlast respects to the late President.
Earlier, the Akahata daily of the Japanese Communist Party(JCP) reported that JCP Chairman Kazuo Shii cabled a message of condolences tothe Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam on April 23.
In Jakarta, Indonesia, the Vietnamese Embassy will keep thefuneral book open till 5pm on May 4. The ASEAN Secretariat is also flying flagat half-staff at its headquarters in Jakarta on May 3-4 in mourning.
The ASEAN Secretary General plans to pay tribute to theformer Vietnamese State leader on May 4 morning.
In Australia, after the Vietnamese Embassy held atribute-paying ceremony and opened the condolences book on May 3 morning (localtime), representatives from the embassies of the Philippines, Cuba, Austria,Libya, Ethiopia, Bangladesh and Singapore, and other diplomatic agencies inAustralia’s Canberra, Sydney and Perth visited the embassy to pay homage andexpress their sympathies.-VNA
