Tree planting marks 50th anniversary of Vietnam – Finland ties
A tree planting day was organised at Cuc Phuong National Park in the northern province of Ninh Binh on December 2 to mark the 106th anniversary of Finland’s Independence Day (December 6) and the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam-Finland diplomatic relations (January 25).

Ninh Binh (VNA) – A tree planting day was organised at Cuc PhuongNational Park in the northern province of Ninh Binh on December 2 to mark the106th anniversary of Finland’s Independence Day (December 6) and the50th anniversary of the Vietnam-Finland diplomatic relations(January 25).
The event, organised by the Vietnam – Finland Friendship Association (VFFA) andthe Vietnam National University of Forestry, saw the attendance of FinnishAmbassador to Vietnam Keijo Norvato, representatives from the Party Central Committee's Commission for External Relations, Ministry of Agriculture andRural Development, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and many organisations andbusinesses having cooperation with Finland.
President of the VFFATran Van Chu congratulated Finland on its great achievements over the pastyears, with stable political institution, prosperous economy, and particularlygreen development path. He said the tree planting event is also intended to acknowledge Finland's help for Vietnam, especially in green growth and protection of water and forest resources.
Touching on the bilateral relations, Chu said that besides the Party and State’sexternal activities, people-to-people exchange has become a channel that helpsenhance mutual understanding, promote effective multi-faceted cooperation andcreate a strong foundation to develop the bilateral ties.

Meanwhile, Finnish Ambassador to Vietnam Keijo Norvato said over the past fivedecades, Vietnam and Finland have developed together and become a reliablefriend of each other.
He added that tree planting is an inspiring activity and demonstrates the twocountries’ resolve to respond to climate change.
Participants at the event committed to continuing support and creatingfavourable conditions to promote mutual understanding between the two peoples,and promoting collaboration, especially in the fields of forest protection./.
Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Le Cong Thanh and Finnish Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Antti Kurvinen co-chaired a seminar in Hanoi on October 11 discussing solutions to respond to climate change.
Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Vo Van Hoan hosted a reception on October 11 for visiting Deputy Mayor of Tampere city of Finland Ilkka Sasi, saying that the city is aiming to build a smart city and a regional innovation and creativity hub, with a focus on digital economy and green growth.
Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member, permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat, and head of the committee’s Organisation Commission, paid a working visit to Finland from November 2 - 4.

The show, together with a grand parade to be held silmutaneously at Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi, will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution, the National Day, and the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA).
In particular, in April 2023, the two sides successfully carried out a joint operation that dismantled a major organised, transnational drug trafficking ring involving both Vietnamese and Cambodian suspects.
