Training launched for staff of military level-2 field hospital No.2

Hanoi (VNA) – A training course for staff of Vietnam’s military level-2 field hospital No.2 was launched in Hanoi on June 19 with the support of partners from the UK, theUS, and Australia.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Colonel Nguyen Nhu Canh,Vice Director of the Vietnam Departmentof Peacekeeping Operations said that the course will focus on evaluating theoverall capacity, especially the ability to deal with on-site situations.

It aims toenhance the comprehensive capacity of the field hospital in all aspects of deployment,operation, management and direction, he said, adding that lessons from thefield hospital deployed in South Sudan will be discussed to withdrawexperience.

With theengagement of 17 medical officers from the US, the US and Australia, the courseis expected to strengthen the cooperation between Vietnam and the countries inUN peacekeeping operations.

James Ralph, a UKexpert showed his impression at the efforts of Vietnam in preparing for the level-2field hospital No.2.

He described thecourse as an evidence of collaboration among countries in implementing UNmissions.

Along withtraining in tackling practical on-site situations, the course will concentrateon the procedure of receiving and keeping medical records as well as treatment forcommon diseases in the area hosting the peacekeeping mission, as well asresponse to massive casualties.

Colonel NguyenTruong Giang, Vice Director of the Military Medical Academy and deputy head ofthe organisation board of the court said that this is a good chance for thestaff as well as the whole hospital to complete their capacity to fulfil assignedmissions, as well as an opportunity for experts to evaluate the staff’s competence.

Colonel Canh saidthat in the past two years, the level-2 field hospital No.2’s staff have been comprehensivelytrained, including in English language. They have worked hard during thetraining, he noted.

He expressed hishope that Vietnamese experts will take the chance to learn from their foreignpeers.-VNA
