Training course in Germany open for Vietnamese nurses

The Department of Overseas Labour under the Ministry of Labour, Invalid and Social Affairs, on April 11, announced the selection of candidates for the second training course on nursing in Germany.

Hanoi (VNA) - The Department of OverseasLabour under the Ministry of Labour, Invalid and Social Affairs (MoLISA), onApril 11, announced the selection of candidates for the second training course onnursing in Germany.

The programme, coordinatedby the MoLISA and Germany’s Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy, isset to select 125 eligible candidates, aged between 20 and 25, who aregraduates in nursing or are studying the major.
Selected candidates willbe sponsored to learn German in Vietnam in 13 months, starting in August 2017,to get the B2 language certificate, before coming to Germany for the nursingcourse with scholarships.

After finishing theirtraining overseas, Vietnamese trainers, who pass the final exam, have chance tostay and work in German hospitals.

Chu Thi Phuong Nhung,coordinator for the nursing training project at the German internationalcooperation agency GIZ, said demand forcaregivers is high in Germany and Europe, offering learning and workingopportunities for Vietnamese workers.

It was estimated that by2020, Germany could lack about 17,000 caregivers in the three healthcare sectorsfor the old, sick and children.

In 2012, the MoLISA andGermany’s Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy implemented a pilotprogramme on sending Vietnamese nurses to Germany to study and work in health servicesfor senior citizens.

In 2016, the ministriesextended their programme to cover the care sector aiming at sick people.-VNA
