Hanoi (VNA) – The State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese (OV) Affairs under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Training, on August 29 held a ceremony to hand over certificates to Vietnamese teachers abroad who attended a training course on Vietnamese language teaching in 2022.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dinh Hoang Linh, Director of the Department of Information and Culture at the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, said nearly 70 teachers from nine countries and territories have successfully completed the two-week training course, which was designed to equip them for pedagogical skills, formal and professional Vietnamese teaching methods, and more knowledge about Vietnamese language, culture, and history.

The annual training course for teachers of Vietnamese language abroad, which was first held in 2013, aims to enhance the teaching capacity for professional and non-professional teachers in community language facilities, and update them with new knowledge in the work.

To date, more than 600 overseas teachers have participated in the courses with the support of teachers who are leading language experts of the Ministry of Education and Training.

In 2020 and 2021, due to impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, the course was held online with the participation of more than 400 OV teachers.

This year’s course took place from August 15-30./.
