Traffic accidents kill 52 in reunification holiday
A total of 76 traffic accidents occurred across the country from April 28 – 30, killing 52 people and injured 46 others, according to a report from the Ministry of Public Security.

Hanoi (VNA) - A total of 76 traffic accidents occurred across the country from April 28 – 30, killing 52 people and injured 46 others, according to a report from the Ministry of Public Security.
Thirty-six traffic accidents happened on April 30 alone – the third day of the four-day holiday (April 28 - May 1), claiming 26 lives and injuring 22 people.
The traffic police forces nationwide dealt with 5,600 traffic violations in the period, issuing fines of up to 1.4 billion VND (61,530 USD) in total and revoking 109 driving licences.
According to the National Traffic Safety Committee, alcohol and driving without a helmet are major violations and main reasons behind the serious accidents.-VNA
A traffic safety campaign was launched in the northern province of Ha Nam on March 9, targeting better safety awareness of students when joining the traffic.
Vietnam recorded 4,674 traffic accidents that killed 2,149 people and injured 3,627 others in the first quarter this year, reported the National Traffic Safety Committee.
Vietnamese are set to enjoy a long holiday from April 28, and services are already strained under the expected surge of people ready to leave big cities.

A hub for sharing best practices, the event aims to forge solutions for financial sustainability, public media contracts, audience engagement, content innovation, and newsroom restructuring. It is also a moment for Vietnam’s media to accelerate its progress and figure out what the “revolutionary press” means in a new era.
