Traditional lacquer works on display in Hanoi

Hanoi (VNA) -
As many as 100 artists are presenting their paintingsat an exhibition dedicated to traditional lacquer art in Hanoi.

The exhibition Vietnamese Lacquer Art is showcasing 100 works created bydifferent generations of Vietnamese artists including Nguyen Huyen, Nguyen TienChung, Van Binh, Pham Van Don, Tran Van Ha, Tran Duy, Ngo Minh Cau, and Nguyen DucToan. Works by Saeko Ando, a Japanese artist living in Vietnam, are also ondisplay.

The Vietnam Book of Records (Viet Kings) recognised it as “the exhibition oftraditional lacquer art with the biggest number of authors”.

It’s our honour to curate and introduce the artworks created by remarkableVietnamese artists, said Nguyen Xuan Cuong, President of Chon’s Auction House.

The exhibition aims to educate people on traditional lacquer art. It shows theimportance of lacquer in traditional art and honours the creativity andsophisticated skills of the artists.

Lacquer is an important heritage of Vietnamese culture and art. The exhibitionintroduces the paintings on various subjects such as festivals, flowers, women,landscapes, abstract and portraits, Cuong said.

The exhibition lasts until March 28./.
