Top legislator lauds solidarity of Vietnamese expats in Kazakhstan

Astana (VNA) – National Assembly ChairwomanNguyen Thi Kim Ngan met with staff of the Vietnamese Embassy andrepresentatives of Vietnamese people in Kazakhstan shortly after arriving inthe capital Astana on October 16 for an official visit to the country.
Detailing her embassy’s activities, AmbassadorDoan Thi Xuan Hien said the organisation of Vietnamese and Kazakh culture daysin each other’s countries have helped enhance cultural exchanges and tourismcooperation.
Bilateral trade has been growing over the pastyears, from below 80 million USD before 2012 to more than 360 million USD in2016, she noted, expressing her belief that as members of the Vietnam-EurasianEconomic Union Free Trade Agreement, their trade will keep rising and reach 500million USD soon.
Chairwoman Ngan informed embassy staff andVietnamese expatriates about the outcomes of the recent sixth plenum of the12th-tenure Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, the socio-economicsituation since the year’s beginning, and preparations for the parliament’sfourth sitting in late October.
She affirmed that the Party and State supportVietnam’s overseas representative agencies to fulfill their duties.
The leader also applauded the solidarity of theVietnamese community in Kazakhstan, asking them to continue complying withlocal laws and help tighten the two countries’ friendship.
The top legislator is on a three-day visit toKazakhstan at the invitation of Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament KassymJomart Tokayev and Chairman of the Mazhilis (lower house) of the ParliamentNurlan Nigmatulin.
This is the first-ever visit to the CentralAsian country by a leader of the Vietnamese parliament.-VNA
