Top legislator chairs National Election Council’s seventh meeting

Hanoi (VNA) – Chairman of the National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue, who isalso Chairman of the National Election Council (NEC), chaired the council’sseventh meeting in Hanoi on June 10.
In his opening remarks, Hue said that this session willfocus on a draft report on the outcomes of the general elections of deputies tothe 15th National Assembly and all-level People’s Councils for the 2021-2026tenure held on May 23.
He asked council members to give comments on the leadershipand direction of elections, the formation and operation of the NEC and relatedorganisations, personnel and consultation works, as well as the organisation ofelection canvass, especially amidst the outbreak of COVID-19.
Participants were required to analyse reports on theelections in terms of the number, quality and structure of elected deputies,and discuss works that need to be done in the time to come.
During this meeting, the council is scheduled to discuss andapproved minutes summarising the election of NA deputies, and a resolutionannouncing the results of the NA election and the list of elected NA deputies./.

National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue has said voter turnout in the elections of deputies to the 15th NA and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 tenure reached 99.57 percent, higher than the figure of over 98 percent in the previous tenure.
The National Election Council (NEC)’s Personnel Sub-Committee convened its third meeting in Hanoi on June 4, chaired by National Assembly Standing Vice Chairman Tran Thanh Man.
The high turnout (99.6 percent) at the elections of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and all-level People’s Councils for 2016-2021 demonstrates people’s political awareness, patriotism and trust in the Party and the State, an official has said.
