Top legislator arrives in UAE for female parliament speakers summit

Abu Dhabi (VNA) – NationalAssembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan arrived in Abu Dhabi, the United ArabEmirates (UAE), on December 11 (local time) to attend the 11th Global Summit ofWomen Speakers of Parliament.
The visit was made at the invitation ofPresident of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Saber Chowdhury and Presidentof the Federal National Council of the UAE Amal Al Qubaisi.
The Vietnamese delegation’s attendance at thesummit demonstrates the country’s policy on gender equality and active andproactive international integration, while promoting the role and position ofVietnam and the National Assembly in regional and global parliamentary forums.
The Global Summit of Women Speakers ofParliament, which will run until December 13, aims to promote femaleparticipation in politics and prevent violence against women and children.
Themed “United for Shaping the Future”, thisyear’s event will discuss the role of women parliament speakers in addressingchallenges to social progress and prosperity./.
A ceremony to launch an action month for gender equality and fight against gender-based violence will take place on November 13 at the Hanoi Opera House.
