Hanoi (VNA) – The Ministry of Public Security helda ceremony on October 10 to assign three police officers to join the UNpeacekeeping mission in South Sudan.

The three officers are Colonel Le Quoc Huy, LieutenantColonel Vu Viet Hung, and Lieutenant Colonel Luong Thi Tra Vinh. They arescheduled to leave Vietnam on October 13 to carry out their new tasks at the United Nations Mission inSouth Sudan (UNMISS).

At the ceremony, Minister of Public Security To Lam, authorised by the State President, handed over the decisions assigning tasks to theofficers. He also presented the ministry’s certificates of merit to them.

Addressing the event, Lam affirmed that the ministry considerssending forces to UN peacekeeping operations an important taskin contribution to the realisation of the Vietnamese Party’s and State’s commitmentto the international community in maintaining an environment of peace, stability and developmentin the region and the world, thus improving the country's positionand prestige in the international arena.

The ministry has to date had eight officers meeting therequirements for joining the peacekeeping force./.
