Three cities fulfil new-style rural area building task
Da Lat and Bao Loc cities in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong and Lao Cai city in the northern province of the same name have accomplished the task of building new-style rural areas.

Hanoi (VNA) – ♔Da Lat and Bao Loc cities in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dongand Lao Cai city in the northern province of the same name have accomplishedthe task of building new-style rural areas.
Deputy Prime MinisterTrinh Dinh Dung has signed decisions recognising the fulfillment of the task. All communes of thecities fulfilled criteria set by the National Target Programme on New-StyleRural Area Building. Local authorities havepaid due attention to upgrading agricultural works. Outstanding results havebeen recorded in job creation, education, health care, culture, environmentalprotection, and people’s income. Particularly, Lao Caicity mobilised more than 631 billion VND (27.42 million USD) during thenine-year implementation of the programme. The National TargetProgramme on New-style Rural Area Building, initiated by the Government in2010, sets criteria on socio-economic development, politics, and defence, aimingto boost rural regions of Vietnam. The list of criteriaincludes the development of infrastructure, the improvement of productioncapacity, environmental protection, and the promotion of cultural values. After 10 years ofimplementing the programme, positive results have been recorded, with half ofcommunes nationwide being recognised as new-style rural areas./.
All communes in the northern province of Vinh Phuc have met new-style rural area standards, and two have fulfilled advanced standards for new-style rural areas, according to the provincial People’s Committee.
More than 9.6 million rural workers have been supported to join vocational training courses over the past decade, as part of a project under the Prime Minister’s Decision 1956/QD-TTg issued in November 2009.

At a review conference held on June 21, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Van Sinh praised the province’s scientific, coordinated, and flexible approach. He noted that the early completion reflects the strong commitment of local authorities, the business community, philanthropists, and residents in improving housing conditions for disadvantaged groups.
