Thousands of OVs register to attend Homeland Spring programme
Thousands of overseas Vietnamese have registered to participate in the annual “Xuan Que Huong” (Homeland Spring) 2018, said Deputy Foreign Minister and Head of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs Vu Hong Nam.

Hanoi (VNA) – ✤Thousands of overseas Vietnamese have registered to participatein the annual “Xuan Que Huong” (Homeland Spring) 2018, said Deputy ForeignMinister and Head of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs Vu HongNam.
Theevent, themed “Vietnam with bright future”, is scheduled to take place in Hanoion February 7 (the 22nd day of the 12th lunar month).
ManyVietnamese artists in foreign countries will perform at the event alongsidedomestic artists, Nam added.
“In each of our overseas business trips, we have sensed the OverseasVietnamese’s confidence in the development of the homeland as well as theirpride of the homeland’s growing role and position in the world arena,” he said.
ꦡ “This year’s theme meets the Overseas Vietnamese’s aspirations for Vietnam tobuild a bright future and these expats showed they stand ready to join hands inbuilding a bright future for the homeland,” he noted.
There are approximately 4.5 million Vietnamese livingand working in 103 countries and territories worldwide. They form anindispensable part of the nation and play an important role in intensifyingfriendship and cooperation between Vietnam and the rest of the world.

The annual “Xuan Que Huong” programme will take place in Ho Chi Minh City on January 20 with a variety of cultural activities to welcome overseas Vietnamese (OVs) back for the Lunar New Year festival.
President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan has expressed wish that the overseas Vietnamese would popularise traditional culture to Vietnamese generations abroad.
President Tran Dai Quang praised the contributions of Overseas Vietnamese towards the country’s achievements at a meeting on January 20 with 50 overseas Vietnamese delegates.
OVs have been encouraged to register for joining the annual “Xuan Que Huong” (Homeland Spring) programme scheduled to take place at the National Convention Centre in Hanoi on February 7, 2018.
The VNA delegation, led by General Director Vu Viet Trang, actively participated in the event, engaging in both professional and diplomatic activities.

PM Chinh lauded the press’s historic role in the nation’s fight for independence and its ongoing process of national development, affirming that the Government always highly appreciates the close partnership and steadfast support of press agencies and journalists nationwide.
In recent decades, Vietnam’s mainstream media has become a reliable and persuasive channel for showcasing the nation’s development policies and achievements, especially in economic matters, according to a senior assistant editor at the Times of India.
A hub for sharing best practices, the event aims to forge solutions for financial sustainability, public media contracts, audience engagement, content innovation, and newsroom restructuring. It is also a moment for Vietnam’s media to accelerate its progress and figure out what the “revolutionary press” means in a new era.
From “Thanh nien”, Vietnam’s first revolutionary newspaper founded by Nguyen Ai Quoc (later President Ho Chi Minh) on June 21, 1925, the revolutionary press has remained devoted to its sacred missions -accompanying the nation, serving the Fatherland, and working for the people.
