HCM City (VNA) – TheSaigon Railway plans to add 10 new carriages to replace old ones on the ThongNhat (North - South) route on December 10.
They will be lighter and more soundproof, and will have bigger corridors andcleaner toilets. Each carriage will have 56 adjustable seats and an electricalsocket per seat for charging electric items, as well as reading lights and TVscreens along the carriages.
The Saigon Railway said it would not charge passengers more for upgradedcarriages.
The carriages were designed by Di An Train Joint-Stock Company, which built twotrains last year used on the HCM City–Nha Trang route.
In the last two years, Saigon Railway and HARACO (Hanoi Railway Transport JSC)spent around 957 billion VND (42 million USD) on upgrading trains and services.-VNA
