Third round of Vietnam-Customs Union FTA talks underway

The third round of negotiations on a free trade agreement between Vietnam and the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan opened on September 9 in Minsk, the capital of Belarus.

During the five-day talks, delegations will hold discussions on tradingcommodity and service, and investment, commercial law, trade disputesettlement, customs management as well as advantages and disadvantagesin building the FTA.

Started in March with the firsttwo rounds of talks held in Hanoi and Moscow, the parties have reachedconsensus on a plenary structure of the agreement as well as a roadmapof building the FTA.

The FTA is hoped to create abreakthrough in bilateral relations, helping lift customs barriers, andbring great opportunities for the union to penetrate potential ASEANcountries’ markets in parallel with opening the door for Vietnamesegoods to its member countries.-VNA
