Thailand’s exports enjoy record high in 11 years

Thailand’s exports have risen to the highest level in 11 years because of an increase in global demand, according to the country’s Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Jurin Laksanawisit.

Bangkok (VNA) – Thailand’s exports have risen to the highest level in11 years because of an increase in global demand, according to the country’sDeputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Jurin Laksanawisit.

The commerce minister said that the export of Thaicommodities jumped 41.6 percent in May and 43.8 percent in June year-on-year.

The shipment of automobiles and automotive parts accountedfor a 78.5 percent increase and that of computers and parts accounted for a21.5 percent rise in June.

Last month, the export of Thai goods to the European Unionrose by 47 percent, that to China by 42 percent, and that to the United Statesby 41 percent, compared to the same period last year.

The Southeast Asian nation’s exports in the first half ofthis year have increased 15.53 percent year-on-year while imports haveincreased 26.15 percent, resulting in a trade surplus of 2.44 billion USD./.
