Bangkok (VNA)🌌 – Thailand’s consumer confidencehas risen for 12 months in a row, reaching a 39-month high in May, accordingto a new survey.

The survey by the University of the Thai Chamber ofCommerce (UTCC) shows that the consumer index rose to 55.7 in May from 55.0 inApril. Thai government spokesperson Anucha Burapachaisri saidthat Thailand attracted 10.4 million foreign tourists from the beginning ofthis year to May 28, According to the UTCC, spending during the May electionhelped consumption, and confidence was also boosted by better-than-expectedeconomic growth in thefirst quarter, driven by tourism. The government expects the country willwelcome at least 25 million international visitors in 2023. However, the surveyalso shows that consumers are quite concerned about the high cost of living andthe risk of political instability after the election./.
