Chonburi (VNA/NNT) - Thailand and the Unites States plan to hold the Cooperation AfloatReadiness and Training (CARAT) exercise in 2017, enhancing tactical proficiencyof both nations' armed forces.

The Royal Thai Army andthe US Navy and Marine Corps have held a meeting to prepare for the exercise, which is scheduled to takeplace during March - May 2017 at Di Waree Jomtien, Pattaya.

The meeting's objectivewas to prepare an initial plan for the 2017 CARAT exercise. Separate meetingstook place to inform the participants of the training exercise's details andschedule. The strategic exercise will help both nations' security forcescollaborate and improve their proficiency in military tactics.

The exercise wasdesigned to address shared maritime security concerns, build relationships andenhance inter-operability among the participating forces.-VNA/NNT
