Bangkok (VNA) –💝 Thailand will hold a general election in 2019 as scheduled,said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of Thailand Prawit Wongsuwan.
Speakingto reporters in Bangkok, the Thai Deputy PM said the government is still planningto hold the election on February 24. TheThai government has promised to hold an election between February and May 2019,following repeated delays due to constitutional and legislative steps issuesahead of a vote. Afterthe coup in May 2014, the National Council for Peace and Order of Thailandannounced various dates for the general election. However, it has beenpostponed several times.
TheElection Commission of Thailand (EC) has announced that the country’s generalelection roadmap will last from December 11, 2018 to May 9, 2019.
However, the election date will be onlyofficially announced after the government completely lifts the political partyban.
