Thailand to host “World Skills ASEAN Bangkok 2018”

Thailand is preparing to host the 12th ASEAN Skills Competition, which, this year, will be known as "World Skills ASEAN Bangkok 2018.”

According to Labour Minister Police General Adul Sangsingkeo, it is the largest vocational education skills excellence event in the ASEAN region and is one that truly reflects global industries. 

Organised by the Department of Skills Development, of the Ministry of Labour, the World Skills ASEAN Bangkok 2018 will take place at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani, Nonthaburi province, from August 31 to September 2, 2018. 

The competition aims to promote skills standards in the ASEAN region, as well as to motivate youths to develop their skills to meet international standards and current technology. 

Labour Minister Police General Adul, said that as host of this event, Thailand will greatly benefit from the transfer of knowledge and experience to relevant agencies in working out their skill training courses. 

The event will also encourage young people, craftsmen, and the general public to emphasize skills development, which will help strengthen the country’s economy and society. Moreover, the event will also provide an opportunity for ASEAN members to share their views and experience in skills development and promote friendship and understanding. 

Young talent from 10 ASEAN countries participating in the World Skills ASEAN Bangkok 2018 will compete for medals in 26 skills, such as automomotive technology, cooking, electrical installations, electronics, hairdressing, internet of things, mobile robotics, and restaurant service.-NNT/VNA
