Thailand to discuss constitutional amendments

Thailand’s government has approved the holding of a parliament session to discuss amendments to the country’s 2007 Constitution, local media have reported.

A joint house meeting would beheld to consider the suggestions by the Committee for NationalReconciliation, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva was cited by theNational News Bureau of Thailand (NNT) as saying on September 8.

The meeting is expected to be a stage for several groups to shareviews, the PM said, adding that the parliamentary session would takeplace on September 16.

Asked whether the charter amendment would lead to unity in the country,the Prime Minister said it was only one part of what would be needed toend all problems the country currently faces.

The parliamentary session would enable people to better understand the situation, he added./.
