Thailand spends nearly 700 million USD to help students overcome COVID-19
The Thai Government has approved an additional 23 billion THB (698 million USD) to subsidy school fees for students at schools and universities, with subsidies ranging from 2,000 THB each to 50 percent of their tuition fees.

Bangkok (VNA) – The Thai Government has approved anadditional 23 billion THB (698 million USD) to subsidy school fees for students at schools and universities, with subsidies ranging from 2,000 THB each to 50 percent of their tuition fees.
Thai government spokesman Anucha Burapachaisri was quoted bylocal media as saying that the move is part of government efforts to help parents cover the expenses of their children.
Some of the budget will be granted to schools,particularly those which are privately run, to help offset expenses. This willenable schools to maintain manageable spending, Anucha said.
Another 10 billion THB will go to the Ministry ofHigher Education, Science, Research and Innovation to help Thai university students pursuing post-graduate studies at state-run or privately educational establishments in the first semester of this year.
Anucha said the government will subsidise 60 percent of tuition fee reductions and the rest will be covered by the universities. For privately rununiversities, the state will pay 5,000 THB towards a student's tuition fees./.
