Bangkok (NNT/VNA) - Eight organisations under the Academic andProfessional Network in Thailand have signed a joint declaration againstmisinformation.
The eight organisations which signed the joint declaration againstmisinformation included the Fund for Safe and Creative Media, National PressCouncil, Thai Health Promotion Foundation, Thai PBS, Chulalongkorn University’sFaculty of Communication Arts, Thammasat University’s Faculty of Journalism andMass Communication, Online News Providers Association and Friedrich NaumannFoundation for Freedom.
The joint declaration refers to the promotion, support and cooperation forconcerted movement against misinformation at all levels of society, thepromotion and support for national policy against misinformation, the promotion,support and development of research and education on counter-misinformation,the development and innovation of mechanisms to prevent and solve problemsrelated to misinformation and the promotion for the public to keep abreast withinformation and digital technology.
Wasant Phaileeklee, manager of the Fund for Safe and Creative Media, said falseinformation has been found in the world’s digital society and fast-developingsocial media. Many people send messages may not have been checked out and mayhave contained negative, false information.
