Bangkok (VNA/NNT) – Thailand Rice Convention 2017 or TRC 2017, a premier international forum for rice, was heldfrom May 28-30 by the Department of Foreign Trade under the Thai Ministry ofCommerce, in collaboration with related organisations from both the public andprivate sectors.
Thai PrimeMinister General Prayut Chan-o-cha presided over the opening ceremony of theTRC 2017 and delivered a keynote speech on "Thai Rice Trade and ItsFuture", outlining the government policies towards sustainable developmentof the Thai rice industry.
Apiradi Tantraporn,Minister of Commerce, said that Thailand rice convention 2017 was held underthe theme "rice plus" to showcase Thailand's potential in the globalarena for quality rice trade and production.
Various innovative rice products were presented at the event, showing how farthe Thai rice industry has advanced in its technological development andtechnological integration, in response to the government's Thailand 4.0initiative to transform Thailand into a value-based economy.
Jeremy Zwinger, the CEO of the Rice Trader Co., Ltd,said among other issues discussed were opportunities for sustainable developmentof the Thai rice industry through innovation and research, experience sharingand perspectives in rice innovation.-VNA
