Hanoi (VNA/NNT) – Thailand and Pakistan have vowed to further strengthen their economic partnership as well as enhance mutual cooperation on tourism and education.✃

At Government House in Bangkok, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee of Pakistan General Rashad Mahmoo paid a courtesy call on the Thai Premier, General Prayut Chan-o-cha, on his official visit to the Kingdom of Thailand.
Talking to the press after the meeting between the two sides, Deputy Government Spokesperson Major General Weerachon Sukhontapatipak said Gen Prayut had conveyed his deepest condolences for Pakistan’s loss following a powerful earthquake of 7.5 magnitude that struck the country last month, expressing his hope that rehabilitation would be done soon.  General Rashad Mahmoo, in reply, expressed his sincerest gratitude towards Thailand for being the very first country to lend a helping hand to the people of Pakistan after the devastating tremor.
Celebrating their 64 years of diplomatic relations, the spokesperson said both parties had agreed to upscale their cooperation in all aspects while pledging to push for the development of both nations as well as protect the best interests of their peoples.  Thailand and Pakistan promised that they would support each other’s roles in international arenas and would seek greater military ties as well as mutual cooperation on trade and investment, tourism, education, and counter-terrorism.  On the same occasion, Pakistani Ambassador to Thailand Sohail Khan asked the Thai side to speed up the signing of a free trade agreement (FTA) between both nations.-VNA
