Bangkok (VNA) – The ThaiGovernment is discussing with Austria future cooperation on the East EconomicCorridor (EEC), particularly a project to build a smart city in Rayongprovince, according to Thai Minister of Industry Utama Savanayon.

Utama said on April 17 that asAustria is working on a smart city in Vienna, Thailand hopes to receivetechnology from the European country to develop similar models at EEC.

The minister said Thailand andAustria began talks on the cooperation in 2017 following a visit to Austria by theThai Ministry of Industry.

Representatives from the twocountries also met in March on the idea.

At the same time, China’s Huaweiis also negotiating with the Thai Government on its plan to open the seconddigital lab in the EEC following the inauguration of the first one in Bangkoklast year.-VNA
