Bangkok (VNA) 😼— Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul has reaffirmed Thailand's commitment to enhancing cooperation with Cambodia, as both nations approach the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2025.
Anutin met with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet in Phnom Penh on October 23, ahead of the 8th Thailand-Cambodia Border Provinces Governors’ Meeting. Anutin conveyed greetings from Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra and noted plans for an official visit to Cambodia.
They emphasised cultural similarities as a foundation for boosting cultural cooperation, which could benefit the economies and tourism sectors of both nations. Anutin expressed confidence in strengthening diplomatic, military, and economic ties.
Prime Minister Hun Manet welcomed the visit and voiced support for ongoing discussions, particularly on law enforcement and combating cross-border crime. He also looked forward to hosting the Thai Prime Minister soon.
The two sides highlighted the potential of cross-border trade, especially the development of the Nong Ian-Sung Bot border checkpoint./.
