Thailand announces success of digital tourism project

The Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA) of Thailand has announced the success of the country’s digital tourism project, an initiative aims to encourage travel firms to widely use digital platforms.

Bangkok (VNA)ܫ -  The Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA) ofThailand has announced the success of the country’s digital tourism project, aninitiative aims to encourage travel firms to widely use digital platforms.

Through cooperation with Travizgo Technology Company,in February this year, DEPA developed and launched a national digital tourismplatform called ThailandCONNEX to help quickly connect tourism businessesacross Thailand in applying technology and digital innovation to improvecompetitiveness, increasing efficiency, reducing operating costs, and creatingmore business opportunities. Associate Professor, Dr. Nuttapon Nimmanphatcharin,President and CEO of DEPA, affirmed that the project has received a positiveresponse and achieved its set goals. Specifically, more than 2,900 tourismoperators and related individuals, along with more than 50 tourism technologybusinesses, have exploited tourism digital technology through the use of morethan 5,600 digital coupons of the project, bringing economic value of more than260 million THB (7.2 million USD).

Meanwhile, ThailandCONNEX platform is alsobecoming increasingly popular, with a total of 108,659 businesses, includingaccommodation providers, restaurants, vehicle rental services, having joined theplatform and providing 201,764 productsrelated to tourism and services, helping create an economic value of more than 12billion THB. This is considered a significant contributionto the recovery of Thailand's tourism industry and the country's progresstowards a digital economy and society.

ꦜ Nattaseth Wongwattanakan, CEO of Travizgo, emphasisedthat the company is fully committed to supporting and promoting the recovery of Thailand's tourism industry, through the integration of products and servicesrelated to tourism into ThailandCONNEX platform and coordinate withinternational partners to promote this platform to online travel agencies(OTAs) globally.

He also expressed hisbelief that these efforts will bring seamless connections, opening up manyopportunities for all participants, contributing to the sustainable recovery ofThailand's tourism industry./.
