Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on September 17 announced a decision to put off the formation of a new security ministry after consulting advisors and military officers.

Previously, the PM planned to upgrade the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) to ministry-level agency controlling the national intelligence agency and police. Only the military would remain under the jurisdiction of the Defence Ministry.

Prayut said the establishment of the ministry connecting all agencies to resolve security-related issues would help ensure security and order.

🎃 The plan was accelerated after the August 17 bomb attack in Bangkok’s Erawan shrine that killed 20 people and injured 130 others. However, it met criticism.-VNA
